When we announced [Basewell’s wind down](<https://www.basewell.com/blog/basewell-is-winding-down>) at the end of last year, I was inundated with requests on what to do next.

VC's wanted me to build again. Startups wanted me to lead products. Founders wanted me to join them 0-1. Friends wanted me to take a sabbatical.

The opportunities were exciting. Yet something was missing.

Then I spoke with [Shopify](<https://www.shopify.com/>).

They shared a vision for [design defining the new era of technology](<https://x.com/carlrivera/status/1987923240279285942?s=20>). An opportunity to craft foundational infrastructure for an AI-native web. The potential to impact a jaw-dropping [14%+ of the US ecommerce market](<https://x.com/harleyf/status/2021593772153315623?s=20>). It was the perfect blend of entrepreneurial optimism, market dominance, and impact potential.

I’m proud to share I’ve joined Shopify to further these causes, leading design for [channels](<https://www.shopify.com/channels>) and [markets](<https://www.shopify.com/markets>)¹.

My experience building teams and designing products that deploy in the world’s most demanding environments is a muscle I can fully flex. Shopify’s prolific support of founders is a cause I fully support. "Design as a moat" is more true now than ever.

Time to build.
